Introduction

What is Migrayt?

Migrayt is an enterprise migration platform that moves your project management data from Azure DevOps to Jira Cloud. It handles the full migration lifecycle — scanning, mapping, previewing, and executing — through a self-serve wizard with no engineering involvement required.

What gets migrated

DataIncluded
Work items (Epics, Features, Stories, Tasks, Bugs)
Custom work item types
Item hierarchy (parent-child relationships)
Iteration paths → Jira Sprints
Area paths → Jira Components
Comments (with original author attribution)
Attachments (up to 250 MB per file)
Issue links (blocks, relates to, duplicates)
Custom fields
Work item states → Jira statuses
Story points and effort estimates
Tags → Jira labels
Test Cases and Test Suites → Xray✅ Add-on
7pace time logs → Jira worklogs✅ Add-on

What does not migrate

  • ADO Wiki pages — Jira does not have a native wiki equivalent in the same project; these require Confluence.
  • Build/pipeline history — CI/CD pipelines are platform-specific and cannot be migrated.
  • OAuth tokens or credentials — Migrayt never migrates authentication data.
  • Boards and custom dashboards — Board configuration is recreated manually.

Key principles

Idempotent — Every migration can be re-run safely. Items that already exist in Jira (identified by a provenance label) are automatically skipped. You will never get duplicates.

Zero downtime — Migrayt reads from ADO and writes to Jira. Your ADO project is never locked, paused, or modified. Your team can keep using ADO while the migration runs.

Resumable — Migrations can be paused mid-run and resumed from the exact item where they stopped. There is no need to start over after an interruption.

Transparent — Every decision the AI makes during mapping is shown to you for review before any data moves. You approve all mappings before the migration starts.
